We acknowledge the Girringun people tradition owners of Country in North Queensland tropical rainforests. In the Girringun language the name for the Cassowary is Gunduy or Gundulu.
The Cassowary is an endangered species of large flightless bird. The Cassowary distributes over 200 different varieties of seeds in its dropping and is an important part of the rainforest habitat.
Cassowaries are one of the closest living relative to dinosaurs.
